ARTIFACT: Beautiful set of four BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) Concorde sterling silver liquor bottle labels, date marked 1986. After the war BOAC flew Lockheed, Douglas, Sunderland, and Liberators. During the early 1950's BOAC was the first airline to introduce the use of jets into their passenger service.
The first in use was the Comet, but after four models crashed (the last two of which were BOACs), the Comet was grounded in April 1954. An Act of Parliament merged British European Airways with BOAC in the mid-1970's, if this had not occurred, BOAC would have been one...
