Swiss Solid Silver Spice Salt Pepper Caster w Figures Marked Rehfues & Co. Presented is an impressive German solid silver spice casters with figural finial on top of lid or covers in the shape of a squirrel and a Rooster. These pieces are marked for silver made by Rehfues & Co. They are finely crafted and useful pieces with a gold wash interior and mounting caps or sifters with a gold wash inside the slip on lids as well. They differ from each other in slight ways from the gadroon around the apron, a slight beading around the lid of one and a slightly higher base ring around the base of the squirrel caster.

They are in beautiful condition with a high finish, only a slight ding in both and a slight lean in one with a slight wobble in the rooster topped caster. They both have only very light scratches from gentle use and care and have no monogram. This is a lovely set for gift or accommodation to almost any service or setting for Salt & Pepper or your favorite spices. It is an unusual and fantastic set for the silver collector.

The Squirrel topped piece is featured in. Switzerland's silverwork Gold and silverwork art from the Swiss National Museum Tresors d'orfevrerie Suisse with a description as noted in the last photo displayed. Cinnamon spreader Berne, Ateiler Rehfues, about 1825 silver, printed, cast, poured, said, mounted Spreader for the precious spices in powdered form.

A perforated spreading insert can be taken out to refill cinnamon powder, the lid protects against dampness and aromatherapy. The Sierrat is owned by Peter Bruckmann & Comp.

I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions. Rooster - 4 5/8" inches tall, 1 ½" inches wide. Squirrel - 4 1/8" inches tall, 1 ½" inches wide.

Weight: 4.1 ounces on my postal scale or 116 grams for both. Marked: Mixed letter mark for Peter Bruckmann & Company, a B with a crown in a badge and a mark with a dog or a hogs head pointing left. Condition: a slight ding in both, no monogram, a slight lean in one, a slight wobble in the rooster topped caster, They both have only very light scratches from gentle use and care. This is my hobby and I do it for fun and a little spare cash. I describe my items to the best of my abilities.
