Panel Bracelet Ball Hinges 6-3/4 Pre-Columbian Figures Solid 925 Silver From Iguala Signed JHP Eagle 2, 47.4g. Visually striking well-made solid 925 sterling silver panel hinged bracelet created by JHP of Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico is in excellent vintage condition with normal light wear from age & use.
Stamped "JHP 925 Hecho En Mexico Iguala GRO" on one panel, the closure box has the Silhouetted Eagle 2 stamp dating the piece from the 1948 to the early 1970s. Each of the 4 framed panels display the same image: a mythical person in profile sporting an elaborate headdress, possibly an Aztec, Inca or Mayan symbol. Four alternating substantial balls form each of the hidden hinges joining the panels. The link top & bottom edges bow out gently from 1" to 1-1/4". The hidden box clasp works properly & the safety chain adds security. The central images, the edges of the links & the large spheres are all brighter sterling. Darker background adds interesting contrast.
The artist took great care with the bracelet's design & construction. From the dramatic imaging, to the hidden panel links & box clasp, to the safety chain & smooth comfortable inside surface, this is truly an amazing piece of jewelry. Comes in a nice gift box.
