Gorham Sterling Silver Topped Cut Glass Claret Pitcher Jug Decanter Date Marked 1886 with Engraved Bird Motif. Presented is an elegant cut glass claret jug or wine carafe with a great engraved bird motif appearing to fly above a scrolling leaf and frond motif and a hallmarked Gorham Sterling silver top date marked for silver made 1886 with a chased rose motif, a hinge pin lid and fan motif thumb. The silver has no dents or dings and only some fine scratches from use and care, the glass no chips or cracks and only some discoloration in the bottom interior from past residue and some minor bubbles from original manufactory with some scratches in the pin-wheel bottom from table top use. This is a fine example of art and artistry for the collector of antique silver.

Weight : 39.4 ounces on my postal scale or 1117 grams. Marks : hallmarks for English Gorham sterling date marked for silver made 1886.
