Signed Vtg 925 Sterling Silver Guadalajara Wide Panel Bracelet, Eagle Mark 4, 35g. SIGNED: Eagle mark, JO or JQ? DIMENSIONS: 7 1/4 inches inner circumference; 1 inch wide; weighs 35.7 grams. This piece of early vintage jewelry is a bold and striking hinged bangle bracelet.
It is signed with 2 initials, can't make out; possibly JO or JQ. Circling around the initials in the center are what I can make out as Guadalajara Mexico with some wear to the words on the right side so that I cannot read it. There is also a Mexican Eagle Mark, which dates the piece to somewhere between 1948 and 1979, I suspect the 50s.
The eagle mark has the number 4 in it, which indicates either the city of assay or the individual maker. I have found no information which one of these the #4 designates. Also, bearing the eagle mark indicates that the piece is at least 925 sterling, and in these earlier made bracelets, it is often more. Striking handcrafted bracelet is 1 inch wide and measures 7 1/4 inches around the inside and weighs 35.7 grams.
Bracelet has four curved hinged panels which close with a wide hidden box clasp to form a bangle. Design has an Aztec flair and has a background of darkly oxidized silver for very nice contrast. Piece is in excellent vintage condition.
Hinges and clasp are secure and work properly.
