All sterling are carefully washed leaving nice warm silver patina and with this set nearly none existent surface wear (as would be expected on used flatware of this age). I NEVER BUFF OR USE MACHINE POLISHING, after all most people prefer these vintage or replacement pieces to keep the natural silver patina.
