  An extremely hard-to-find early piece of jewellery by renowned maker Ola Gorie. Made in sterling silver, this is a brooch in her famous and very recognisable'Skara Brae' design. The reverse is stamped'SILVER', along with the very rare'OLA' mark. This dates the brooch to the very start of her jewellery making - between 1959-63. This is a very nice and rare piece of antique York sterling silver. Not only does it have the town mark stamped on (which is uncommon for flatware), it also includes the very rare capital Q version of the date letter for 1827. This piece has been exhibited in the UK. Three Centuries of York exhibition in 2000. There has been some strengthening to where the blade and handle join. It looks classically provincial in its simplicity.
